O Scale 1901-42 Model Trains For Sale

The first four decades of the 20th century is very significant for the model scale industry. Different innovations were made and model scales were slowly gaining recognition. The 1900s marked the introduction of Märklin, a German toy maker of the O scale model train. The O scale, together with its rail the O gauge was quickly introduced in US that gained considerable popularity. The O scale model trains even became the default model train during the 30s in the US because of its size and most model train companies were releasing trains in this size and Gauge. But the model scale barely survived the Great Depression and the Second World War.

One of the reasons of the success of O scale model trains in the US is due to its pricing. Because of competition, model scale makers looked for ways to attract customers and slashing prices is the best way to attract different customers. However, the quality of these model trains is not as remarkable as they are today. They usually sold as toys wherein its components are not as durable compared to die-cast model trains of today. Authenticity is rarely followed as the manufacturers focused on trains that will work and would appeal to children and the masses instead of replicas to actual trains.
