HO Scale Atlas Model Trains
Atlas was established as a small machine shop in mid 20s by Stephan Schaffan Sr., an immigrant from Czechoslovakia. The company’s venture in model trains was however made possible by his son, Stephan Schaffan Jr. His son was able to produce a decent kit made from different model train parts. This kit became one of the first model trains that were sold as pre-assembled. The company formally established themselves as a model train maker in 1949. Stephan Schaffan Jr. continued to revolutionize the model train industry through different innovations such as Snap-Switches and Super-Flex Track. Atlas is still under the same management and is now a recognized around the world.
The HO scale model of Atlas came in a little bit later after the company has already induced different innovations to the model train industry. The model trains were made not only to appeal to those who are starting the model train industry but also the experienced hobbyist. These prototypes are fine in details and the “power-layouts” are impressive as the electrical components could provide a good challenge – you still have to personally assemble the components but they come with clear instructions. Their HO models are known to move without any problem even with minimal power provided.
