HO Scale Bachmann Model Trains
Bachmann is the largest manufacturer of model trains in the world today. The company is currently based in Bermuda but with factories in China which enabled them to mass produce model trains distributed all over the world. The company was founded way back in 1833 by Henry Carlisle but it was Henry Bachmann and his brother Walter that became instrumental to the company’s success through the introduction of sunglasses. It was only in 1947 the company experienced its first model train venture. This was also the time when plastic became a popular made up of products. Bachmann is currently under Kader which acquired the company in 1981.
Bachmann first introduced their HO scale a few years after the first O scale models were introduced in 1970. Because of their use of plastics, Bachmann is regarded as a very affordable option for those who are starting in this hobby. The HO scale of Bachmann that was produced before the Kader takeover is now a collector’s item. The quality of Bachmann improved considerably when the “Spectrum” model trains were incorporated with Bachmann. These were called the Bachmann Plus and were introduced in 1992. The HO lines of Bachmann model trains now have digital command control.
