HO Scale Mantua Model Trains

Mantua is a popular toy manufacturer established in 1926. The company was established by John N. Tyler, Pauline B. Tyler and James P. Thomas. Mantua started building model scale trains in the late 30s with ready to operate model trains. Mantua, however, was eclipsed by its sister company Tyco during the 50s with their own sets of model trains. It was only during the 70s when Tyco purchased the rights of producing Mantua model trains. It still found relative success until the 90s. The manufacturing rights of some of the original models of Mantua were then sold to Model Power in 2001 which became Mantua Classics.

The HO model scale of Mantua became popular during the 70s with the help of Tyco. It’s practically a resurrection of the original models of Tyco with a few new models of the latest trains during the 70s. The HO model scales are usually diesel engine and locomotive model powered by a unique Tyco motor. The classic HO scale released by Model Power could also be traced on the original model trains that were released in the early 50s only with a different motor. Most of the trains of Mantua could be used right out of the box with little assembly required.
