N Scale Arnold Model Trains

Arnold model trains were manufactured by K. Arnold & Co., a company established by Karl Arnold in Germany. The company started as manufacturers of different toys in 1906 until WWII when Mr. Arnold’s factories were completely destroyed by bombs. The owner decided to start over with model trains as they were the most popular toy during those years. The company became successful through their introduction of a smaller model scale train that would become the N scale model. The company continued its production and would still be family-owned until 1995 when the company was sold to Rivarossi due to looming bankruptcy which was also sold to Horby in the later years.

Arnold is one of the pre-cursors of the N-scale model trains. They offered this smaller scaled train during its time right after the Second World War. When the N scale model has been properly defined, Arnold Rapido, the company’s brand for coupling has been acknowledged as the standard for the N scale model. Arnold only manufactures European N scale model trains when it started on N scale trains. The company only started releasing North American N scale model trains when they started to partner with Revell during the 70s. This also signaled the improvement of the quality Arnold model trains.
