N Scale Minitrix Model Trains
Minitrix is the creation of Trix, German based toy maker established in 1935. It’s one of the few toy makers in the world dedicated to model trains powered by electricity since its establishment. It first came out with AC powered model trains until after the Second World War. It was only in 1956 that the company opted to come out with model trains with DC power. It was in 1960 that Trix came out with Minitrix – a series of N scale model trains. It was also during that year Trix introduced HO scale models. The company was acquired by Märklin to save it from bankruptcy in 1997.
The N Scale Minitrix is one of the most recognized brands in the world for high end small scale models. The success of Minitrix in N scale is on its dedication to the model scale – Minitrix doesn’t sell any trains of different models. Minitrix is both a hobbyist’s preferred N scale as well as a collector’s item. Minitrix developed by Märklin is powered by Selectrix, a DC powered N scale train that could be adapted to different DCC systems. On the other hand, pre-Minitrix models from Trix is a collector’s item because of its rarity especially the AC powered Trix model trains.
