O Scale Williams Model Trains

Williams model trains was established in 1971 as makers of Lionel and Ives model scale trains. Jerry Williams, the founder, started coming out with his own replica of model trains scales when he was able to obtain Lionel tooling in 1969. It was only in 1980 that the company opted to completely devout themselves to the O scale model. This was due to the acquisition of the Kusan tooling. Kusan is a relatively known model train manufacturer from the 50s. The company was able to corner a niche due to their dedication to the O scale with finer details compared to the previous O scale Lionel trains. The company was acquired by Bachmann Industries in 2007.

O scale Williams is one of the most unique model trains in the industry. Although they were not as big as its younger competitors, they were able to gain faithful following from traditional hobbyists. The O scale model trains are never equipped with digital controls and will never be. At first glance, the O scale Williams looks like a replica of Lionel. However, a trained eye could spot the difference in model trains. Williams was able to add the details that were not possible during the time of Lionel’s production in the 50s.
