The O scale model train is often a subject for controversy because of its varying sizes that would often confuse starting hobbyists. Aside from the standard measurements of O scale model trains, the tracks of for these model trains also vary. There’s the O gauge track which measures 32mm between rails and O-27 which are measured in diameter instead of space between rails.
The O scale model train is originally the 0 scale model train which refers to the smaller model trains when compared to 1 scale. This scale gained its popularity during the 30s as most model train manufacturers were only coming out solely with O scale model trains. But it was more regarded as a toy which means it didn’t really focused on realism but only in mechanism. It was only during the 90s the model train company dedicated to the realism of different O scale model trains which proved to be appealing to hobbyists.
